You know guys, Missouri is a beautiful state but we also live in a violent state. Two days ago in a matter of minutes a storm with 60 mile an hour winds and I swear the lightning of Zeus himself blew through here. A tree next to my place took a firect hit and the bolt ground out in my well. Burnt out the pump motor. The wind took the roof off my wood working building, ( I am a woodcarver by trade) I thought my number was up. So if I am not around for a while dont think I ran away or died or forgot ya. I am just putting the pieces back together. This old buzzard aint going nowhere. Ya'll are stuck with me

hey Jed. sorry to hear about your damage. hope your horse comes back ok. Just thought I would let you know, we are expecting 65-75mph winds today (all day) and most likely tonight as well. by the way, that's a standard windy day for us. I know some friends who were in a plane landing at Wellington (here in NZ) airport one day when it was blowing and they could look out their window and see straight down the runway, plane righted itself just before touch down - ho hum, just another windy day at the airport.

Hi folks, been really a mess here. Missouri is one of those states where nature can be beautiful and dangerous at the same time. We had a squall line of storms come through. It was about 78 degrees and a cold front moved in with 50degree temps right behind it. Man the winds hit 60 to 70 miles per hous almost in an instant. Next thing I knew I could hear the barn roof go and lightning everywhere. Was like in a movie. I have about $50k of woodworking tools in the barn as I am a master wood carver and woodworker by trade. Luckly the celing in my woodshop didnt go so my equipment was spared long enough for me to cover it. We had Quarter sized hail and then in 15 minutes the sun came out. It was like Godzilla just stomped through. Anyway, insurance will cover it all, so I am not worried. (barn needed a new roof) The pump for the well is a pain in the ass I have to actually PUMP water right now till they install a new one. I will get a new computer and tv and some other stuff out of the deal as the lightning fried a bunch. Its just a pain in my ass. Spent most of yesterday looking for charlie (my horse) he jumped the fence when the lightning hit and took off. There are about 15,000 acres of mountain woods around here with coyotes and the occasional mountain lion and black bear. I'm guesing he will wander home eventually. The Llamas just hunkered down in the pasture. So thats what I see that there have been a lot of blogs since I have been out of touch. I will take a bit and try to catch up

Hope you are Ok and the repairs are covered by insurance. Please keep your head down, according to the internet Branson has been hit before by tornados! Looks like a windy place

Hi Jed, we are Northeast of you and got it too but not that bad. I was actually at work but the bf was on the way home and in his car, he said he had to pull off the road, couldn’t see where he was going. Didn’t have any lightening but had lots of wind. Weird thing is it only lasted maybe 10 minutes and then it was clear.

Bloody hell Jed!! come and live in central New Zealand - 60mph (100Kph) wind is just a usual windy day for us, and I mean gusts that can last for several days, not just a few hours. We consider a storm to have winds of at least 100mph (or more).
I always laugh when I see news reports from the States about the wind storms and speeds. Granted, tornado's are something different though.

Sorry Jed. Mother nature can raise some hell - GOOD reason to stay away from females 'EVIL' except family (some of the time). Looks like you have some well work to do. Hope it was only the motor and didn't greound out at the foot. Mess that sucker up and have to pull that pipe. Might be good you gotthe tractor and front end unit from the auction. Happened to me before and replaced once when a kid. Last time I finally tied onto city water. Taste like crap but OH WELL. Have a good weekend -Andy
