What do I love about Christmas = Everything. I love the holidays, putting the tree up and decorating it filling the apartment with Christmas decorations sitting in the evening with just the tree lights on and drinking a bottle of wine with my bf making love to the Christmas sounds and lights. People everywhere are so much nicer at Christmas the Salvation Army bellringers outside the stores. Picking a name of the tree in the mall and buying a gift for an unknown child, realizing no matter how hard it is to manage financially with school and having to work lots of hours to survive there are people so much worse off. Yes for me the holidays are just amazingly beautiful times. And finally like everything else we do and celebrate in this world they are only as good as what you make them, so if you think the holidays are crappy change them and make them great. Wishing all my friends here a happy start to the holiday season.

My favorite was when my mom was here, she loved the holidays. guess when I'm older I'll look back and think of happier times. For now anytime I can be around friends.

Damien....I think you were a little crude, rude and nasty in your post....the basis of Christmas is about love and forgiveness....not gifts...you are testing me with your rant...and yes, you are entitled to it...but the tone of rudeness is not really necessary. You can disagree without doing what you did. IMHO...Thomas

WHAT'S SO GOOD ABOUT CHRISTMAS
by Frank King
12/24/2009 / Christian Living

Christmas is a favorite time of the year for me. I know there is a lot that’s bad about how it is celebrated, but there is a lot of good, as well. That’s the part I love. Of course, the foremost reason I love Christmas is because for the people of God, it is when we celebrate in a special way the birth of our Savior into the world. Without His having been born, nothing else about Christmas would be of any lasting relevance.

But here are some other reasons I love Christmastime. In many ways, it brings out the best in many people. There is so much goodness shown to others during this time. Yes, I know it’s been occasioned, by and large, by the extreme pressure society puts on us to spend, consume, buy a lot of stuff—as if that’s what Christmas is all about. Nevertheless, I am moved by the way the Salvation Army, churches, charities, businesses, and individuals pour out their hearts to make little needy and less fortunate children smile on Christmas. This is especially dear to my heart because when I was a child, and my mother struggled to raise eight children alone, I was on the receiving end.

I greatly appreciate our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. I pray for their protection. It would be great if they could all be home for Christmas. But they are fighting to protect us so we can enjoy the life we currently do. Thanks to modern technology, many of these soldiers will spend a few minutes on Christmas day with their loved ones who are so far away via virtual meetings through means such as webcam.

A special time I cherish about Christmas day occurs in the morning before breakfast. My family and I meet in the den and sing Christmas carols. Then I lead about 10 or 15 minutes of interactive discussion about the true meaning of Christmas. We join hands and each of us prays. Then we bring out the gifts and bless one another. Finally, we have breakfast, and the day is off and running. This year, five of our six children will be with us for Christmas. My son in the Navy will join us a few days after Christmas.

When you get right down to the bottom line, the reason I love Christmastime is because of the love that fills the air. It only seems appropriate. God first loved us by giving to us His only begotten Son on that first Christmas. So here is wishing for you a Christ- and love-filled Christmas.

JJlonerider - jeez thats all we need at christmas: some fucking wanker givin us the Labour party view of the thing. Just because u swallowed a dictionary when u were bout 14 doesnt mean u are better than the rest of us an can give left wing wank lectures bout christmas. I am a tory an happen to like capitalism beause it is capitalism that pays my wages - so take yr hand off your cock and go and get yr first blow job this century!

I am with Thomas on this commercialism has completely destroyed any true meaning Christmas may have once had. The Capitalist leaders have turned it into nothing but a feeding frenzy where people buy shit they don't need and put it on credit cards because they can not afford it and then spend the rest of their year paying off something at 20% interest. The only gift I want for Christmas is for anyone I love to love me back, for those I have wronged forgive me and for those who for whatever reason dislike me, just let me go my way and you shall not be bothered.

Mike I miss them everyday...and think of them every day....it is the commercialization that has killed it for me....I am old enough to remember the good old days....so I spend the day with the one I love...and that makes it special....like each day I have with him...for the days grow shorter with each year....thanks for the kind words...Thomas

“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
― Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas

everyone has a different perception of things, good or bad, its what you feel at that certain time or moment that makes things special. Some guys say bah humbug others celebrate, but thats what make us different, its the little things in life that are important.

Christmas is a really great time in my family and it is a very big deal and I along with both my parent actually enjoy all the trouble it takes to make it perfect. I guess for me the single best part is the family meal, it’s the one time of the year when aunts, uncles and cousins who are spread out all over the Midwest are together at one time. It is a lot of trouble, it does take a lot of effort but when you quit trying and take the easy way out and just do nothing you lose everything that makes it special.
