So in the USA the 4 big sports, football, baseball, basketball, and hockey have not 1 "out of the closet". you think with the statistics there would be one gay athlete. why do you think there are none. now, there have been athletes that have come out after they retired. this is all interesting to me what do you think

i read the story of Robbie Rogers, and it's really sad that he retired by age of 25, he was just in the middle of his career. we have gays in fashion, in entertainment, music and everybody accepts it without any fear or reservation this is normality. But in sport, especially in team sports it's a taboo. Politician and official and sportsmen always say that there is no need to be afraid if an athlete discloses to be gay and he will receive every possible support, but the pressure from the press and exceptionally from the fans is such a big barrier that the gay athletes keep reserved. In europe we had often rumours about gay football players and the reaction of some fans were the manace of violence and sometimes dead. It's only a minority of fans, but they are very loud and the pressure is immense. Meanwhile there is a agency who connects girls to the athletes to pretend a "normal" life, a horrible vision :( I think it's time that a group of really important players stick together and make their sexuality official with a big bang. i hope the world will wake up then and change a little bit.

Scott Norton is a pro bowler, pretty good too. Won the chamelion open a month ago and gave his husband a kiss live on espn to celebrate. Thats a big change from a few years ago, when i was trying to do the same thing. I was good enough to get beat by the guys on tv and i made a living for a few years. then i ripped up a hamstring an that was all for me. Still cant bowl today from it.

I used to think Kobe Bryant was too until he raped that woman in Colorado. Now he's legit.

Lebron James is obviously gay, and his mom had sex with Delonte West! I hear Chris Bosh brings a big jug of poppers just for him!

Haha!

Actually, I think the situation is worse than you have described. There have been a couple of professional athletes in the US who came out to their teammates and faced great difficulty. The most famous one I know of was Glenn Burke. He was a gifted all-around athlete who played major league baseball for the L.A. Dodgers and then the Oakland A's. It was rumored that he was dating the son Dodger manager Tommy Lasorda, and that is why he was traded to Oakland. In Oakland, manager Billy Martin would not tolerate a gay player and sent Burke to the minor leagues. He was soon out of baseball, and eventually died of AIDS. I am not sure if this issue is restricted to the USA. I have heard of professional rugby and football (soccer) players coming Out after they retire, but am not sure I have of heard of any coming Out prior to their retirement.
