Homophobic - Is it a right of opinion

<p>A television reporter in South Africa has been forced to apologise after tweeting "I think it's ok to be Homophobic"<br /><br />Do we have the right too force people to accept us and are we taking away the rights of freedom of expression.<br />Is it our role to help educate the ones that disapprove of us rather than force people not to have an opinion.<br /><br />Comments made about the GBLT community should used as tools to create debate rather then fuel the fire of Homophobia.</p>

we ALL have an obligation to teach tolerance of others, unfortunately the loonie fringe jump on that, with their hate towards specific people. How can a country like Iran behead a 14 year old boy for being gay...It has gone on for centuries against women's rights, blacks and slavery, and gays, and always by MALES who create MALE dominated, MALE made religious/political pigeon holes for themselves to hide behind, under THEIR right to religious/political freedoms and rights, to spread their hatred. The fight has gone on for centuries and will struggle for many more. We MUST speak up and be counted.

its wrong and in most places illegal to say racist comments so why would it be called freedom of expression to voice homophobic opinions? everyone is equal. we are not forcing people to accept us we are making people accept equality no matter what the sexuality, gender, race, or religious beliefs are. every one is entitled to equality

There is a difference between having an opinion and expressing hate. Homophobia is not an opinion it is hate. For instance, if I hate those of a different race, is it my opinion or am I being a rascist? Answer's obvious. People like this guy call their hate an "opinion" in order to justify their hate. By calling it an opinion, it becomes easier for others to accept his hate.
