Notoriety/Bad Publicity

Here's another one for you guys.

When I was single I pretty did what most of you do, shared pics and some vids with guys whom you could trust and enjoyed what you did and looked like and all; not so much now of course. With them I was never worried that I'd up on Tumblr or Reddit or even here, cuz we're friends first and foremost and we respect each other.

Thing is, I'd never upload myself, faceless or whatever, to a site like this one because you know it'll just get shared to the ends of the earth and beyond.

So, my question is - to those who upload themselves and to those who don't - why do you do it? How do you deal with it? And so on. And I am aware some guys have had issues with this from reading past blogs, so I know shit happens and all.

I doubt it's something to be paranoid about but...
We know that security services have been using face recognition software for a while now. I wonder if such software will eventually be available to the general public. If so file names, tags and metadata wouldn't matter. Once shown an image of a person this program could begin searching sites like this one and thousands more. It would probably turn up a lot of false positives but could turn up potentially embarrassing photos and video. I imagine some kid in 2050 checking to see what his dad or grand dad was up to in the past. I'm sure sites would find a way to counter this if only to prevent unprofitable bandwidth usage. Many (disappointing)videos don't show a face. If you are a programming wizard and come up with "dick recognition software" your fortune will be made.

I would not do anything giving any personal information out or what have you BUT I have heard (whether it is true or not and depending on your views of course) that there is SO much porn at this point that no one is going to even find out something is of you in a photo or video. Whether that's true or not I don't know. Like people say there are many who thought that they could do something and get a away with it only to be found out years down the road or what have you. I don't know...but I'm not doing it myself! With that said I don't think it is bad if people aren't out in the open about whatever videos of photos they are releasing. I think JKLatino and CarlKellner sum it up well.

What you do has consequences and you should always be ready to face them. I'm a former porn performer and trust me in the 90's I was all over the place because I was one of the first black twink that wasn't a top. I have quit the business a while ago and got myself three university degrees in sociology, psychology and business... But so far nobody has ever found who I was.

Just today, I found one of my videos posted in Xtube, I was 27 years old back then and the guy who posted it wrote that I was 18 LOL. Can't blame him I do not look my age just one bit.

I have no shame or scare of what I did online, showing my ass, dick or other thing doesn't make me a high class bitch. It's just part of the exhibitionist in me. Like so many guys you see online today!

I'm glad I asked this, haha, so many varied points of view! It's fine to come in here with an open mind about what you do, but you always have to think that five, ten years down the line, if you're not careful, this may come bite you in the ass - you might be someone with some power by then!

You can't un-ring a bell. Once a photo or video has been posted to a site like this for more than a few minutes you can assume it's been downloaded by someone. At that point it's out of your control. Unless you've been silly enough to link your photo or video with your real name the odds of someone you know finding your photo/video among the millions of similar files on the net are astronomical. Just be careful not to let your user name and real name become linked. Ever.

There 1000's of videos on here of guys engaged in gay sex either professional or armature videos, and they are naked and there are 1000's pictures here of guys having gay sex, self pics etc etc and they are naked. There are a lot of members here posting naked pics of themselves. I don't look at it as someone coming on here and stalking members saying they will show their immediate families and friends the pictures or videos. I see it as it being a thrill and that other gay people will enjoy the videos and pictures however they see fit. I think anyone that comes to this site is either gay or curious and if someone I know comes on here and see a naked picture of me, then it means they are gay or curious and now we have something cool to talk about.

I share a lot with close friends, but always faceless (just in case). Like you I would never share anything like that on here because there are a lot of things spread around or taken from here. Plus there are a lot of creepy members.

Hmm.. not really. I would be upfront and honest about what I have done. I don't have family now as such (well... you guys here are my family) and as for the ex's.. they're history lol. Most of the people I know are here. I do have two friends in the USA.. and they've been fine with what I do. I never go too far with things though because I would not want to hurt anyones feelings :)

You aren't worried about other friends, family or even a future boyfriend/spouse/whatever seeing them and all of that? (my boyfriend would skin me alive for example)

Did the site hiccup? O.o

Good question, Jklatino. I have a few photos of myself on here, and I also appear on a Tumblr blog... and to be honest, I don't have a problem with it. When I was younger, I too was wary of becoming exposed over the internet. But, I don't really know many people outside of GBT. It's got to the stage now where I am comfortable with people seeing me (and my.. erm... 'bits' lol) as long as I don't get a request for a photo that goes too far. :)
