<p>Happiness is: 1. Falling in love. 2. Laughing so hard your face hurts. 3. A hot shower. 4. No lines at the supermarket. 5. A special glance. 6. Getting mail. 7. Taking a drive on a pretty road. 8. Hearing your favourite song on the radio. 9. Lying in bed listening to the rain outside. 10. Hot towels fresh out of the dryer. 11. Chocolate milkshake ... (or vanilla ... or strawberry!)12. A bubble bath. 13. Giggling. 14. A good conversation. 15. The beach.16. Finding a 100 Euro note in your coat from last winter. 17. Laughing at yourself.18. Eye contact with a hot boy.19. Midnight phone calls that last for hours. 20. Running through sprinklers. 21. Laughing for absolutely no reason at all. 22. Having someone tell you that you're beautiful/good looking. 23. Laughing at an inside joke. 24. Friends. 25. Accidentally overhearing someone say something nice about you. 26. Waking up and realizing you still have a few hours left to sleep. 27. Your first kiss (either the very first or with a new partner). 28. Making new friends or spending time with old ones. 29. Playing with a new friend. 30. Having someone play with your hair. 31. Thanks for all these thought-provoking blogs. If you came up with so many forms of happiness on a beach, I am amazed at your stamina. My brain would have been addled.

I would add three more to my list:
-kissing solid ground after a scary voyage in a small boat
-finding a back-street traditional French restaurant with time-expired furniture and scrubbed wood tables, but with real food (none of that nouvelle cuisine) and a real welcome and chat and the chance to sleep on or under the table (with or without le garçon) if you can’t make it home.
-holding a warm boy in your embrace forever, or at least until dawn.

I actually think your blog is about happiness, not contentment. Happiness is a broad idea and one should not insist on applying it to one form. Yes, there is the inner pleasure of the sage, perhaps, by inversion of terms, best described as contentment, but for me happiness touches joy and pleasure and ecstasy and orgasm while contentment is a steadier, longer, quieter more resigned thing: satisfaction, acceptance, acquiescence, ”desiring nothing more or nothing different” . Never let a linguist out of his cage.

i like this list some of them happens oftern others only rarely - the buddhist philosphy i like " to achieve happiness lower your expectations " - this dosent mean having none - but by setting an expectation we are projecting our happiness in to a future that does not exist -( so these simple things make me happy )- the present and being in the moment means you break down desire - focus on what you could do now
will add sow a seed or two and watch it grow like a pumpkin - giles

Amazing list which I can’t match in length, or even see the overlaps. So here’s mine:

Thinking every day “that was a good day”,but you have to work at it
Finding time to listen to the birds (and Sibelius and Beethoven) and smell the flowers
Having someone to love and be loved everyday.
Climbing a mountain in mist without a map and climbing down again without falling off
Finishing the day with a good wine and leaving tomorrow to mind itself. ‘So tonight let’s drink; tomorrow we cross the mountainous seas’(Horace, I think)
Being your simple honest self.
Trying to be a good companion and listener and a dependable friend and lover
Friendship
Admiring someone
That first touch and kiss and hug.
Lying with a lover/loved in a field under the stars on a warm Mediterranean night.
Sitting on a hill and delayering the landscape century by century until there is only crag, bog and forest, then feeling very alone!

Isidore U R right. So lets change the word Happiness for Contentment!

True happiness comes from within and isn't dependent on external influences, so although all these things are nice none of them represent genuine happiness. The only one that is heading in the right direction is no. 45 (although you need to delete the 'no matter what other people think' part).
