<p>I've written about the boys I like, how they should be hairless, slender, a little femme, perhaps emo. But what does this do to the boys who aren't all those things? The boys, like me, tall and skinny, who are ordinary, the boys who are chubby or obese, short, not pretty, who have acne, or dreadful dentitian. I've not seen a porno about ordinary gay people, the people who don't stop you in your tracks when you walk down the street and there they are, flawless skin, the just-right haircut, cute, utterly desirable, up-to-the-minute clothes,masturbation-fantasy objects. It might just be about market forces, that pretty outsells plain any day. Perhaps it's time to have a conversation about sterotyping, about

This is a link to an interesting article about how internet access and television has changed the perception of what is attractive. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/11/internet-influences-attractive_n_5574321.html?utm_hp_ref=gay-voices&ir=Gay%20Voices

Giles....looking at photo's of you on your page I don't think you are being fair, because you are very pretty. You may be a mismash, but you are a mismash of very nice features.

This is a very perceptive subject for a blog, Andrew, and it's generated some interesting comments from some of the more thoughtful members of the site. Sorry I've only just seen it. What you're talking about, of course, is beauty. It's a very natural and beneficial thing to admire beauty, whether it's a person, a creature from the animal kingdom, a landscape, a piece of music, a poem or a perfume etc. Beauty is inspiring, and sometimes unnerving. Yet it takes many different forms - some of the most beautiful people I know aren't good-looking in any accepted sense, their beauty lies within, they have what might be called a beautiful spirit, or soul. And you make a good point when you talk about market forces. What happens in Western society particularly (and we're all accessories to this in a way), is that a certain type of beauty is proclaimed by the media and advertisers as being the very pinnacle - today it might be someone who is very thin, tomorrow it will be an androgynous look, or Asian, or Black etc. This then becomes the norm, it sells billions of dollars worth of clothes, perfume, cars, films ... and in the process anyone who doesn't conform to this 'accepted' form of beauty, tho 'nom', is relegated to outer darkness and ridiculed. So yes, it's something we all need to think about (says he, who has thousands of beautiful boys in his favourites), we need to see beauty as being more than skin-deep.

nick, being cruel, judgmental and manipulating is a form of bullying to me. it is an ugly head of our culture that along with social media and animosity, people think they can force themselves on others. if everyone would ignore them, they go away and find somewhere else to play.

We like what we like. No need to feel the slightest bit guilty about that.

i agree that we all are guilty of typecasting our perfect gay desire as a smooth, young beautiful gay twink. in reality it is just not so. i would have to say in my judgment that we do see all varieties of boys (it is a boy site) that are not necessarily cute or even attractive, not toned or six packed, overly underweight, smooth or natural body hair and a variety of penises, good, bad and ugly, but those that grace the bodies of our young guys posing or selfie taking a shot of their precious cock. so we pick our favs, pics and vids, and work our way through the rest.

if porn had ugly people.. then it would just be real life. why look at that?

people will judge no matter what trust me. I was a real chubby kid growing up, I was confused though. trying to be straight when I shouldn't have ever been doing besides being my true self (gay). But during those times as a real fat kid, no hot girl really was attracted to me, not even the boys. Not even the fat girls, or fat boys. So it's kind of conflicted as to each his own (what makes you go kaboing). I do not try to mirror image what I am attracted to at all. I just be myself. I shave my body entirely, pluck my facial hair, try to maintain a good hygiene over all. I am skinny now (dropped from 300lbs to 130lbs or less now). And I do want to be skinny, or least less in weight. Around 120lbs. I have natural muscle on me because I was a boy who was worked hard with outdoor work growing up with my dad. (woods, chopping piling etc, fishing, yard work etc.) I am attracted to 'Fatal Attractions' really. But to me that turns out to be almost what I look like. I dont dress in the best clothing or fashionable clothes. I love my style which is a trashy look. Old clothes, ripped torn, faded, etc. I think they would call that a homely boy look? But over all as I am saying, it goes down to what each his own chemistry reacts to that certain type even if it's the first time you ever see that type.

This is what I wanted to say and that disappeared when I clicked POST...thanks Nick.

....the stereotyping of gay people by gay people and the impact that has on lives. And why there seems to be a so much greater range of body types in straight porn. I'm part of the problem, look at my fav pics and vids, all pretty much falling in the narrow range I talk about. What are your thoughts?
