People like the late Rev. seem to miss the whole point of the Bible they so proudly quote. That book has way too many words in it, it should just be a book with 3 words in it: "Love thy neighbor" PERIOD!

Alan - you are quite right, there are not 'more' gays now. It's about power and control. One of the main reasons for the recent increase in homophobia is that due to the efforts of the LGBT movement, gay people are able to live openly, get married, enjoy equality under the law etc. This terrifies individuals like Jerry Fallwell, because they have lost their power to control other people's sexuality, and find that it is now their lifestyle and opinions that are under attack. The boot is on the other foot.

the sad thing was, he chose to spend his life speaking hatred. Many like him seek notoriety, and make careers on Fox network etc. by doing so. Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and others are the same, right wing bozos who speak/lead other right wing bozos. that is what comes with freedom of speech for some.

Well I just am not of the nature to be able to celebrate the passing of another person. To me the truly sad thing here is I think he actually believed what he was saying, there are too many, and one is too many, who fear the homosexual community. I know in my heart that nothing ever happened to me, there was no event and there is no abnormality that caused my homosexuality, I am what I am because I was born that way. I also am quite certain that being who I am whether it be openly or not will not cause a straight person to become gay. The truth is that the only reason there seem to be more homosexuals nowadays than in the past is due to the work of very strong individuals before me have made it safer for LGBT people to live openly. We have in the past, present and future always been here, a part of humanity that no longer hides from society.
