One day, I hope to be... NO, I WILL be counted as one of the strong, courageous souls! @jackingamer: I am very much in the same boat as you are as far as my local community. Redneck is the right word! It really adds to the hesitation of coming out when you really have no one to in the area to talk to.

oh, I mean that I agree about the being surrounded by wonderful LGBT people. Now, I just have to FIND them where I live....

I agree. Straight people think we have no regrets because being gay is a choice, but that's their opinion. Secretly, they would "defend" their straighthood the same way. Regarding community, I feel I am sadly very much alone where I live and wish I knew other gay people in my immediate area. It seems they're mostly Redneck Republicans out here who believe that being gay is unnatural. I know, I work with them. Then there's the churches....
