We had a woman by the name of Mary Whitehouse who, as head of a religious organisation called 'The National Viewers and Listeners Association, had set herself up as the guardian of the nation's morals. She decided that the lyrics were sexually explicit and began a campaign to get the song banned. The BBC finally caved in to her wishes and banned it from broadcast on both TV shows and from all of its radio stations. All she succeeded in doing, however, was ensuring that 'My Ding-A-Ling' got to number One in the charts. For which, Chuck Berry was eternally grateful!

he sang it at a couple outdoor concerts and the crowd loved it and sang along. lol love it. remember this was a time when censorship of music TV and Movies was prevalent.
