Thank you all for your comments. Da Lat is really worth a place to visit. Mad6040, check this link and you'll find good information how to travel from Saigon to Da Lat,
I prefer flight because it's so quick and not expensive. Please reserve at least 2-3 overnight stay there then you have time to see most beautiful places there. You can trust
for example the travel agency in your hotel in HCMC to arrange all what you want to see. Here's the address: http://www.travelfish.org/transport_detail/vietnam/saigon_and_surrounds/ho_chi_minh_city/ho_chi_minh_city/42 I really hope that you find your trip as a very nice experience:) And swiftjohn, my friend. Your question is very good and my answer is very useful too, I hope. In big cities there's
no problem with the history, mostly but in countryside the older people can be still very curious where you are coming from because you're from outside Asia and sometimes it happens that they
"turn they face" from you, meaning they don't want to talk or see you if you're from USA. I have some friends from Europe and because they look like same as Americans I must always tell when they're
visiting countryside with me to local older people that they are not from America then they smile and are very kind to them. This old history is disappearing quite soon I think and I really hope that it will continue anymore. Most people in my country that people "don't like" are Chinese. Because history too, we're neighbours and lots of products are coming from China -for example motorbikes we use- but we must buy these products because they are very cheap with bad quality but still our country is very poor and we don't have money to buy products from Europe or USA. I really hope that that is cahnging soon... But 1 thing I'm very proud in my country is COFFEE!!! Second biggest producer in the world right now. And if you have plans to visit Da Lat it's famous also from it's wines!. True! Please let me know if you try some! Hugs Jay

Another idyllic spot on the planet. Looks like a great place to escape from winter in the Mid-west, U.S.A.

Out of curiosity Jayden, have the Vietnamese people forgiven us for that stupid, misguided and unnecessary war we fought over there years ago? It seems Viet Nam is too beautiful to have a war in.
