Well, if you live in the state of Uganda, you could be put to death for being Gay-David Kato knew he was a marked man.
As the most outspoken gay rights advocate in Uganda, a country where homophobia is so severe that Parliament is considering a bill to execute gay people, Mr. Kato had received a stream of death threats, his friends said. He was beaten to death in January,2011. A Ugandan newspaper had run an antigay diatribe with Mr. Kato’s picture on the front page under a banner urging, “Hang Them.” a few months prior. “David’s death is a result of the hatred planted in Uganda by U.S. evangelicals in 2009" said the chairwoman of one of Uganda’s gay rights groups, said in a statement. “The Ugandan government and the so-called U.S. evangelicals must take responsibility for David’s blood.” What was being referring to visits in March 2009 by a group of American evangelicals, who held rallies and workshops in Uganda discussing how to turn gay people straight, how gay men sodomized teenage boys and how “the gay movement is an evil institution” intended to “defeat the marriage-based society.” After growing international pressure and threats from a few European countries to cut assistance because of the anti-gay bill that was going to be passed into law- Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni, indicated that the bill would be scrapped. But in 2012, the bill is up again in this session of Parliament. Contact your Congressman or Representative in your area and tell them you want to see aid and funding (except humanitarian) to Uganda and it's Government STOPPED if they put this Repressive, Draconian bill into law-Make Your Voice Heard On This! Stop the Bigotry and Stop the Hate! We Are Who We Are and we desire equal rights like all other citizens-Demand Real Change NOW!

Being gay is a crusade in Cameroon. The law is merciless, and politicians are planning to toughen it more. Should the new bill pass, a gay would face an 8 year jail sentence (15 year should he be involved with a minor under 16). You talk about bullying, I talk about gratuitous violence encouraged by the authority. Yet, courageous activists take their life into their own hands to defend the gay cause. What I mean is western young gays can rely on the law to protect them and on GSA to bolster their ambition to change things for the better, for all of us. And, judging by the daily number of stained sheets, there are many western young gays on this site. See, you’re not being an ass Ruslan. Your blog couldn’t be more relevant. groups like GSA must be all over the world. every university campus must be safe for anyone regardless sexual orientation. it's the time when everyone should understand that being a gay is not a crime. it's just fine. especially in Asian countries where people are religious and cultural they need to understand that the homosexuality thing is not western anymore. homosexuality is all over the planet so there is need to accept this thing in every part of the planet. thanks :)
