Whether you are young or mature, we all go out into the world and face much discrimination everyday from diverse groups of ppl in society. Young LGBT ppl who are still in school have it particularly rough. Peer and social pressures are brutal for so many of you, and during a crutial time in you're lives when you're still trying to understand yourself, or trying to accept who you are. It's not easy. Harassment, bullying and discrimination are too often neglected and unprotected by the institutions that are responsible for your care. Don't EVER give up. Don't EVER think you are second class. There is nothing wrong with you. You are a beautiful person created the way you are.....and who you are....for a purpose! You are too special to become another statistic. You do not have to face your situation alone. We all need to talk with supportive friends sometimes, because, there, you will find understanding, and the acceptance that you desire.....that we ALL need. It's a very healing experience for your soul, and it will recharge your batteries. No one has all of the answers for you, but finding some 'ME' time, regularly, to talk with supportive friends, will help you figure things out. Ask different ppl about their experiences. Find out how they handled their situations, what worked and didn't work for them. They can give you fresh ideas, new ways of aproach, and encouragement, to help you choose which path is the best one to take for your particular situation. The need for all of us to 'fit in' and find acceptance is not only desireable, but necessary. There are also a lot of older LGBT ppl who suffer in silence too, and have been for years, struggling to accept themselves for who they are, or frustrated with living behind a masked identity.....many suffereing from the scars of decades of discrimination.
It's so important that we ALL stick together, support and prop each other up when you feel like you can't go on, when you're falling apart, or facing a seemingly impossible situation. If that's where you find yourself, whether you are young or mature, please talk with someone about it. There are many who want to help in your time of need....if you'll just reach out and allow them to love you back.
