This was shortly after it was allowed for the first time to mention something like homosexuality in movies, and even though this is completely over the top, its funny and portrays the characters as - well, queer, but human beings. So some may be offended by the 'gay blackface', but it was one stepping stone on the road to freedom.
I agree, I'll have to see the whole film, too, because it's just too funny :-)

If I was a hypersensitive queer, I suppose I would be offended by the "gay blackface," but I'm not. I look at films in the context of the time, and this was truly funny. Now I have to see the whole film. Thanks for sharing.
