Always wondered why the legal ages to do various things are so different? Not just in different countries, but within the same country too. What do others think?

Ex. Can legally work at 16, join the military at 16, get married at 16, drive a car at 16, but can’t drink alcohol until 18/19/21, or vote until 18, or obtain/look at/participate in pornography until age 18? 

Can live/die for country at a younger age than I can vote, or even watch a porn flick???

- age of consent (for sex)

- drinking alcohol

- consuming pot

- getting married

- going to work

- joining the military

- voting

- driving a car

- graduating high school

- going to college/university

- legally making decisions for yourself

- living on your own (away from parents)

- obtaining/ looking at/ participating in pornography

- treated as an adult in court

I think 18 is fine although I started at 13 and for personal reasons would say 15 but I think too many kids would be taken advantage of so keep it as it is

I don't worry about ages if he wants it ill let him have it--sex beer alcohol cigarettes-  because to tell them that they are old enough to do a lot of it at 18 in some states 21--is stupid--you

christianities god got mary pregnant at the age of 14 talk about age difference--and I read articles about jesuswent into tents with boys was with them for hours at a time came out patted the boy on his head told the boy be careful going home my child-- google it not to mention it shows it twice in movie about jesus I just cant think of the title--

so you see where kids are molested in church by the pastor/preacher they supposed to trust most---then in shows/movies when a guy builds a house in woods or out in field somewhere his flock and their kids are there because he has convinced these people he is the second coming of Christ then see scenes where holds hugs kids and tells them he loves them and he will take care of them as they have took care of him..

so I think underage sex has been around since boys get hard ons--its just how it is

No country is more mishmash or confusing when it comes to age of consent laws than The United States... "The Age of Consent is 18 in eleven states - California, New York, Florida, Oregon, Utah, Iowa, Arkansas, Tennessee, West Virginia, Vermont, and Delaware. The lowest state Age of Consent in the United States is 16."...However if you look for exceptions into each individual states age of consent you're going to walk away confused...Things have changed since this subject came up in a blog over a year ago, Texas was the most confusing. At that time the age of consent for a girl was 12 as long as her male partner was no more then 3 years her senior, So 12 and 15 was fine but 12 and 16 meant statutory rape charges were pressed against the boy. I see now that Texas has changed their "Romeo and Juliette" law..."Texas Penal Code 22.021 establishes the “Romeo and Juliet” law that handles these situations. The law states that anyone between the ages of 14 and 17 can legally give consent with someone within three years of their age, so long as the other party is at least 14 and gives his or her consent."

Thank God there are no age of self consent laws. Imagine the Puritans who would be sitting up all night long next to little boys beds making sure they all were good boys and slept with their hands on top of the covers. I can so very plainly remember at least 10 yrs ago reading an article about punishment for sexual thoughts, where the person being interviewed said that his mother would come into his bedroom at night to check to see if he had a nocturnal erection. If he did then she would beat him for having sinful and impure thoughts. JFC! How twisted and warped is that? Can you imagine the ;life long psychological damage she inflicted on that poor boy?

I can understand the need for age of consent laws to protect the young from predators and much to early pregnancies but Jesus Christ looking deeply into each states statutes on the subject is crazy.

if old enough to cum he is old enough to breed---my opinion is--they say teens at 13 even boys at 12 are old enough to know right from wrong and then turn around and say too young to know what they want sexually--im like wtf--I knew what I wanted at 8 I have had boys same age up to 13 tell me they want to know what sex with another boy /gu is like-- but then the law says their brains aren't mature enough to know what they want--but then let them committ a crime and the law and c ourt system wants to try them as adults--either their  old enough or not cant have it both ways

Here in California it is 18 but me and my friends in high school think that this is bull shit ! We all agree that it should be set at 14 because most all boys are mature enough at 14 to make their own decisions about sex and who they want to have sex with .

So I went to the emergency room last year and was told by the doctor that people are not suppose to be alive over the age of 38.    He says that's why people have such bad health problems after then.   I then saw an article on Daily Mail saying the same thing about folks over the age of 40.    What the ever lasting fuck?    With that all said if that were the standard then how would they effect and or change you all's opinion of what age of consent should be if we are to now be expected to lower our standard and value of life being only half as long as it might be?

People are weird they get upset when a gay twelve year old isn't supported in his feelings but if he has sex with another underage boy, in alot of places he could be charged and labeled a sex offender.So I guess his brain is developed enough to go through all that bullshit. Then why is he not developed enough to have sex with an adult. I believe people decide on their own when they are ready for sex and who or how old the other person is is no body's business. Now if a child commits murder they almost always go for an adult sentence, why? Because murder is an adult action? well......so is sex.If a Child can be sentenced to life in prison they can obviously think and be treated in some situations as an adult. That being said children should never be molested or assaulted,....same as adults. But they should never be discouraged from seeking out sex with whomever they want, if that's what they want.

I personally believe that a 18 yo to be with anyone 18 and older is good and I also agree with 14 -16 yo, 15 - 17 yo, 16 - 18 yo,  and 17 - 19 yo...

i think 14 and 15 year olds know what they  want in sex 

Age of consent in my country sux!!! I think it s stupid to have an idea of age of consent that should be the same in al countries. All depends on culturL TRaditions and different biological development in different countries. there are some countries where ageof consent is 13 or 14, even in erope (Albania). Rumania is 15.  Not to mention cultures in Afria and Asia. It s bullshit to have  one age of consent worldwide.

Pour moi cela doit être 18 ans. Les enfants pré-pubères n'ont pas à participer aux choses sexuelles. Mais, au passion de leur âge. Comme dans le football, ceux qui sont dans cette passion et bien nous devons les aider à progresser dans leur passion. Je suis éducateur, je souhaite que ces enfants puissent progresser dans leur sport favori. Et dans plusieurs années, ils diront à leur fils ou fille, voyez celui-ci est mon éducateur. Dans l'éducation il y a aussi des apprentissages de la vie tel que le respect, l'entraide, la politesse... 

USA's consent laws vary with each state, and in some cases with certain counties. So one must be savvy to the law that pertains to where you are.
