When i first started to work as an apprentice I was told to go to the local handyman (hardware) store and ask for a new bubble for a spirit level. The guy in the store asked if i needed a square/round bubble? I went back to ask my boss much to his amusement. I still get ribbed about it 36yrs later.
I have done the same with apprentices who have since worked for me, they have been sent to go and buy: Tartan paint, a bucket of steam and my favourite.... some sparks for the angle grinder!
A bowling team friend years ago sent his wife into our small town auto repair shop (everybody knows everybody) to have her car's "bumper belt" tightened. She was told there was no such thing, so she conspired with the mechanic who gave her an invoice stating the "bumper belt" was too old to be tightened and he had installed a ""new bumper belt" at a cost of $25.00. Bill was a bit more cautious about setting her up after that.Â
Too funny man! My Dad retired as a union carpenter and my 4 brothers and I would always help him around the house. I was about 11 and he asked me to go get him a "left handed" screwdriver. My Pop and older brothers just started cracking up when I actually opened the tool box and was looking for one. Love 'em and hate 'em...but that's family. LOL!
He SHOULD be embarrassed, that's like going to the hardware store for a left handed screwdriver. (He's cute though)
Bringing my old blogs back to life..!!
