Chik-Fil-A Comes Out Against Gay Marriage

Blog Last Activity 11 years ago 1.4K views 44 comments
Chik-Fil-A just fell off my list of places to do business. They believe they know exactly what God thinks of gay marriage and are siding with him on the issue. http://www.ajc.com/news/chick-fil-a-president-1480243.html

"Our old pal, Colonel Sanders is back with a message for Chick-Fil-A and chicken lovers that is totally honest and not at all panderous."

@ardmore I didn't mean it like that all I am saying is that yes they have the right to say what they want but it's up to people like us on whether we listen or ignore. So, if they are against gay marriage, screw them. Yes, I work for them and I love it, but i am not gonna let some Corporates tell me what I can or cannot do in my personal life. That's why there are rumors of people doing Same Sex-Kiss Day at the food chains and protests going on and I am all for it. I am even planning to kiss someone to show that I am for this all the way. I still believe in God...I have my Chrisitan beliefs...but regardless...it's not going to change my rights as a citizen of this world. I am gay and that is what I came to the conclusion of 6 years ago.

I'll admit it! All this Chik-Fil-A talk makes me really hungry and then I crave waffle fries. That being said, it is my understanding that Chik-Fil-A is franchise based. Now, while the company may believe gay marriage is wrong (and I suppose we all have a right toward our own views), the specific franchise may not necessarily be against it. I have conflicting views on it all, so I just go with the flow.

Sorry nate88, but nothing was ever destroyed by an abundance of kindness.

Thank you cas92. Very well said and with kindness and compassion. Open displays of HATE hurt the cause to achieve equal rights. The media loves to see angry GLBT people - makes a good news story but hurts US in the eyes of the public. Try killing them with KINDNESS.

I haven't checked the news today but if nick18 is right and the head of chickf did indeed die today, then perhaps the deity decided to weigh in on the issue. IT'S A SIGN!

What I find utterly incomprehensible is the notion that just because we have freedom of speech that we should just let this go. I too have freedom of speech and I use that right to decry bigotry. If you are gay and are just happy to roll over and let people like the president of Chik-Fil-A have the final word, then you really are missing the bigger picture. With gay equality in America, it's one step forward and two steps back. Their position on this matter is definitely a step back But don't fret you apathetic ones, others will fight your battles for you. And by the way, free speech is only good if everyone exercises that right.

Look guys - let me tell you MY side. I recently received a medical discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps after 5 years of career servise. Ihad a spinal injury while defending my country. Myself and many now and before me fought for this great country - many died or were mamed. I took an oath to defend The Constitution of the United States and to defend all foreign and domestic enemies. I do not agree with what the Corp Pres of the Company - and let me mention he was speaking for 'himself'. Sa much as Ithink he is a bigoted homophobe - I defend his right to say what he wants - it's his constutional right. Just as many do not't like gays - I fought for you too. Put it into perspective and move forward. There is nothing to win or loose over this issue. How easy SO MANY are swayed by the OUT OF CONTROL media. Why must you be a pupet on their string. A quote from my great grandad " They are just out to get your goat and you let them trick you into giveing it up". If you don't want to do business their, that's your right and the same for those that do. We call it FREEDOM - and it comes at a HIGH PRICE.

the head of chickf,,, publicly expressed his views as a christian man. christianity is opposed to homosexuality. this is his right as an american. i back him 100%. he has been trashed by the left in a horrible way. i am a conservative. i am a former christian. i do not agree with many of the christian views. here in america we have free speech. i would patronize their stores but i don't have any near me.

Woah...well ok, first of all...I work for them and I am gay...now I am not saying I am siding with the company because I do know they are of Chrisitan faith, but at the same time, they have not done anything to downgrade me of my gayness. So yes, they are entitled to their opinions....this coming from someone who knows the insider stuff.

i dont belive that you need some bit of paper to say you love them but it does help when they die cos it mean your not stuck with detes so that the only reson why it came about but i say if you live a good live and dont go mad you be ok but been marriage help so rember all get some ho sensable with cash and keep a rain day pot if not then it bye bye love but not in det so save some cash and i live with all ways

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, as long, of course, your opinion the "party line." Really remarkable.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. When you bash this man for not approving of gay marriage, you are essentially being a hater yourself. Get over it, its not the first time someone has a different view and it wont be the last.

btw ~ i fully (or fil-a) intend to get MATRIMONIZED with one i love :)

i am total queer and still i will never say different. marriage is a holy rite like with me mum and dad. matrimony is what should be the human and legal RIGHT for same gender attracted/oriented people. the leaders of big 'gay' orgs spendin millions while our young people kill selfs. that suck muchly! call it matrimony, realize 'tolerance a two way street' this enables it to be made federal in d.c. rather than this state-by-state stupidity and it respect separation of church and state as some see it but also protect marriage as most Christians see it and i am a CHRISTIAN gay in that order. never my sex life before my savior.

So, flasmoothie, your philosophy is that if it doesn't affect you directly you don't give a damn. That's great. And that is what is wrong with this country. We've become fat, lazy and selfish. Why bother caring about other people when you've got all you need, right? You fail to grasp the effect of a collective on society. We are the collective but if you don't care what happens to us as a group, then you truly are apathetic. So thanks for your lack of support.

I know the company well (no, don't work there or have a financial interest in the company). It is probably the best run fast food business in the USA, serving terrific food, healthy, at a good price, and by exceptionally pleasant personnel. Not once have I ever felt discriminated against because I am gay. Not once have I ever seen a sign in one of those restaurants advising gays to take a hike. I just get terrific food, and have a very pleasant experience. I don't intend to stop going to Chick-fil-A. Besides, boycotts never work effectively; there is always the "backlash" anti-boycott effect. (BTW, a lot of people have a dim view of gays. Their loss. Not my problem.)
