I have been here nearly two weeks....I have set up a great profile and gotten only a few real friends....everyone else I talk to talks to me once and then goes away or never answers me...is it me? Am I not meant for this site? Maybe....idk but I just don't feel really welcomed. :'-C I feel alone....it is already bad enough I am a virgin and hardly have true friends in my life. Sigh...idk anymore. I just have to say that this site is the only one that I can show my real feelings but idk anymore.

this is not the place to have a social life. it is where you are in the real world. people you meet. this site is a secondary place. you can do things here but it is not a substitute for real human experience. live. enjoy. learn.grow.

Chris. You will find both good advise and some bad advise as well. You already got my suggestions. I was you FIRST friend and shall remain that way. Just don't accept ALL, do your research - check out their page or send a message. What,if, you get anything back will say a lot. Also be carefulof 'collectors' these members care nothing about you but they are just collecting numbers for the site "Popularity Contest". If you get a request from someone who has little to no profile,you know isn't being honest or a member over 100 days that takes and NEVER contributes to the site, well my advise is KICK THEM TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD - you want find real friendship there - your Friend, Andy

Usainindia-yes I am aware of Rus and Toby but idk there is something about them that makes me not trust them fully and canadaman...that is a good idea I just might do that

sexychris : I suspect that, probably, 80% of the visitors here to GBT are only interested in the porn, so it might be difficult weeding through the porn-seeking members and finding a few friends ... but it could be worth the effort. If you have a video of yourself singing/dancing, you could always put a link to it here, as a thought. Might impress a few people, and open up more conversation for you. :-)

There are two Walls on GBT where gays will gather like it is a chat room. You never know exactly when anybody will actually be there, but it is usually at night US time. The only rule really is to be respectful of each other. One Wall is hosted by Alex17 (Rus) and the other by Toby19 (Toby) Rus is traveling for the next couple of weeks, so his wall might be on the slow side until he gets back.

I would agree with canadaman. Start a conversation, here others will join in. Talk to ismealan. He and I have chatted. He is a fascinating guy.

I can say the same thing only I have been here longer and have less friends than you do. Only thing I can say is, if you have people who say they are your friend but then don't answer you back, well maybe they really are not that good a friend. I have managed to me a couple of really great guys though so maybe just hang in there!

Guess it depends on what you're opening that conversation with, and what you want to talk about.
The internet can open opportunities to meet other gay guys, but it's also filled with flakey people
who seem to have the attention span of a 2 year-old when it comes to conversation, sometimes. :-/
What did you want to chat about? Why not start the conversation right here, and see where it goes ?
