Yesterday I was thinking of a Great Great Uncle who had emigrated with his parents from England to Canada in 1908 aged 12...he volunteered to join the Canadian Infantry, was posted to France in the 87th. Battalion from Quebec (the family lived in Vineland Ontario) and was killed near Arras in September 1918.
I also think of my late father's younger brother, a Lieutenant in the RNVR , whom I never knew because he was lost off Norway in a Submarine in April 1940. Thankyou for reminding bloggers on this site of all the countless millions whom we should remember.

thanks for all who served. special prayer to those who died or injured defending the country. i went into the navy during the viet-nam war. the first time we went to sea the ship sank..they told me that is what submarines do. i was relieved. mike

I appreciate what soldiers do and the sacrifices and risk they take in doing their duty... but I would specifically like to think about the civilians/children and the most vulnerable who continue to lose their lives in whichever military conflict there is... War is almost never worth it...

Yeah WW1 was pretty grim from what ive read with all the dudes that were kiled - poor buggers - so many countries can comemorate November 11th. It was good to see Prince Charles layin a wreath at the centoaph in New Zealand (our guys go t the shit kicked out of them at a place called Gallipoli in WW1); lets hope that kinda thin never happens agin
