We have a problem.
The forecast is for around 4 days of extreme temperature.
Now today was ok 38 degrees but the forecast for tomorrow is 44 and getting hotter.
We have low humidity and the 2 things put together guarantee bushifires on a big scale.
If things get bad please stay by us. A bushfire is no fun.

Love and hope to chat soon.
David

An update. Things are bad in Tasmania (or Tassie as we call it). Just saw the news and it was like an atom bommb was hitting them. Huge freball with 100km winds. Burning pieces of timber were smashing through windows. Many houses burnt from the insside out. Now the town destroyed is/was on the coast and Police and volunteers evacuated the town and told evryone to get into the water and take a spare shirt with them. They had to wet the shirt and hold it over their heads because burning embers we falling everywhere.

Now 4 more towns are in danger and cut off. Please pray for them. Its too early for me to talk about what happened here

Just heard the news that a whole town in Tasmania has been burnt out. No word as yet regarding loss of lives. My town now seems secure. I have had a few beers and a good sleep.

Hi Everyone. An update at least for here. It was frightening. A bushfire doesnt last for days but for maybe an hour. It moves so fast. Now im am still black and very tired but I had to report in. Here we have a system of volunteers (well trained and well equipped) plus the State fire service.

Now this is how it went and its hard for me. I am a volunteer firie. A fire came towards town fanned by a wind off the desert. The word came that I was called out in the front line. The second line was any able bodied males and the 3rd line were any males over 15. Anyway the front line stood firm (it sounds like a battle). With firebombing and heaps of work on the ground we beat the fire , just. But this is the hard part we lost
2 good men.
So in their memory I will quote the second verse of "My Country"

"I Love a sunburnt country
A land of sweeping plains
Of ragged mountains ranges and of drought and flooding rains
I love her far horizons I love her jewelled sea
Her beaty and her terror The wide brown land for me"

Dorothea Mackeller written in 1890 ehen when she was I Have just experienced the terror

Anuway time to shower settle down to watch th cricket on tv and have some cold beers in memory

Thanks to all for your support

Love David.
