@austinpscott Yeah maybe you should. People have a right to speak up and ask for changes. :) It can still be a good "community" even if people dont like your ideas. -- As for the thumbs up and down thing... You guys need to understand that this software for this site comes as is... there are probably a few plugins for it, but anything beyond that would require coding of the sites source. A real forum approach would take less than 10 minutes plus the configuring of the forums and stuff. -- If people want a web based chat, I could probably host something like that. I already own an IRC Network, and putting up a page with a web client for it would be really not much work.

a good community can police itsself - those that overstep boundaries are told as are trolls just saying some recent blogs were gross guess if you want to see those images just send a link or join another site - giles

maybe I should go and sit in the corner, thought this place had a good community spirit, if you dont want to read certain blogs just skip past them, if you want porn goto the porn page, but please dont go on and on about what should or should not be in a blog, this site has a good feel among its members, I suppose you can take a horse to water but you cannot make it drink.

I like Castano,s comments and mikes Thumb up or down idea. The Image in a Blog was a good Idea but some do take advantage of that i believe. Im fully aware that there are lots of different tastes but i do think the blogs area should be respectful to all.

I personally have found a few of the recent Blogs to be a giant turn-off, and unrelated to gay porn, but I do not want to have them censored. I just scan past them very quickly.

for me, being new, the blogs are as important as the pics and vids are. yes a proper chat forum would be nice but I think form what I hear, has been suggested. As for rules, when I joined recently there were none to be found in the start up, despite links to same???? . it's like putting a dozen 16 year olds in a room with guns, that have issues with each other, and leaving them alone lol! Perhaps parameters need to be set by owners definitely, or by the members to owners as suggestion, and I think as suggested, moderators for the blogs be enlisted, to take the load of owners. It would help deal with some of the crap from trolls etc. immediately, but if it has been suggested and ignored.. it's falling on deaf ears and nothing we can do about that.-Brillo

I've been suggesting a forum for this exact reason too. i saw below where someone recommended multiple blog sections. That would require more work than just installing a forum. But anyway since I've been accused of being on a soapbox, I'll just say I hope that Nick18 is listening to these requests. Besides I want to see cute stuff and horny stuff, not chickens biting dicks or german boys with giant holes cut in his face :)

I came here first for porn. However I discovered a nice and pleasant community. It's nice to share and communicate. I agree that a forum format would be great as we could quote by interests.
I can also notice that many people just read but don’t comment. In the forum subjects could go from personals (looking advice) to interests (photo, music etc) to jokes and so on. Indeed mixing all in a Colum is quite shaky.

Some good suggestions here about guidelines and moderation to improve the quality of the blogs - this subject has come up quite a lot lately, I've suggested to Nick18 that GBT has a proper, and maybe separate forum for more serious/friendly discussions about gay issues, where insulting and tasteless posts could be taken down quickly (you've no doubt noticed the recent troll activity). Obviously people come here for the porn, but that doesn't mean that they're incapable of having an intelligent discussion as well ...

@itsmealan, you're right about guidelines and I really like you're idea about text only blogs. The simplest solution might just be to have 2 blog sections, one that allows graphics and one for text only.

I am sure there would always be issues with someone not following guidelines but if you at least had some you could say there is a line and this crosses the line and is there for being removed. But with no rules people make up there own, personally I would vote for some kind of index like Fred suggested and if you wanted to have a section for the discussion of gay issues make that section text only, seems like it would work to me.

Maybe the blogs need a home page where you can select a category, such as Happy News, Sad News, Funny Stuff, Weird Stuff, Sexy Stuff, etc. but that might require moderation. Guidelines would be an easier answer and nice if everybody would follow them. I must admit that I look away when scrolling past that weird holes in the face guy, those pics suck.
