I think it's very unusual to choose not to do anal sex at all, although there are a lot of gays who don't like to be the 'bottom'/submissive partner. The reasons for that are quite complex, both physical and emotional, perhaps psychological. Sexual tastes also tend to change over time, one can alternate between top and bottom or both at different ages - but I get the impression that if you don't like anal sex at all then that's likely to be a permanent preference.
