Wanted to take a sec to step back and talk about trolling. There really isn't a good understanding of what to do in situations when an ugly misunderstanding has broken out and collateral damage is being rendered. People who feel compelled to help enter into the issue and do more damage than good, while others stand at the forefront and scream for measures that in the end really do nothing but exacerbate the situation. In the end I'll outline an effective strategy for troll management that I hope might be something that people can fall back on if needed when the truly ugly mf'ers (like me) get, well, ugly. Let's start with the second issue first, the old "Delete his profile and site ban him!!" mantra. That's easy to insist on this to Nick, but in the end someone like me can create infinite numbers of accounts instantly by creating infinite free unique email addresses. As far as site banning is concerned, I could use tor to come at gbt from infinite numbers of sites - theres no way you could possibly ban them all. My point is that if a person really wants to troll this site, there's not really a lot that Nick can do from an admin standpoint to stop it, short of shutting down new account creation, which locks up the site - Nicks livelihood. So then the question becomes, well, what do you do. OK, each troll situation starts with a misunderstanding between two people and escalates from there into a vicious cycle that continues until maximum damage is achieved. It seems attractive to confront the individual directly and firmly threaten them and hurl inflammatory or derogatory statements at them. That might work in a nightclub when someone messes with your boyfriend, but at a site like this, it only fuels the fire. Its a natural reaction when we feel a friend is attacked to join the fight and go on the offensive, but I want to emphasize that this is what escalates it from a simple misunderstanding to something that becomes a vicious cycle of tit for tat. One swings and hits, the other swings and hits, you swing and hit again, and again, and again back and forth back and forth. As counter intuitive as it seems, you have to refrain from this. In my case, a simple misunderstanding brought out a swarm of bitches, I dug in, the bitches dug in and we just had us a grand ol bitch battle royal. The same things going on with map191. Were trapped in a cycle all over again. In my case it wasn't until billy contacted me and said, "you are loved, take my hand" that I was ready to be done. Billy's intervention snapped the cycle of troll - a voice of reason in a situation where both sides, thinking they're right, are dug in. IN CONCLUSION, 1) don't assume that nick is going to ride to the rescue in a fight, since he may be powerless to stop it, 2) recognize that all parties in a trolling situation think they're right and are dug in, 3) there's a vicious cycle of damage that is fueled by hate and is broken by kindness, 4) realize there is an original issue underlying the initial misunderstanding that can be a key to drawing the conflict to a close, and 5) be the voice of reason, the person that says, "you are loved, take my hand", not the bitch that is geared up to fight the war. -----+++++DIdn't mean to offend anyone with this. I regretted my epic meltdown. I spent 6 months away from the site to collect my thoughts. I think it helped. I tried to apologize for my actions. Maybe this can help map191 as well.

Just ignore the trolls, they feed on attention, starve them!
