Book recommendations about teen boys

JoshPrim Blog Last Activity 3 years ago 421 views 3 comments

I'd love to have some recommendations involving teen boys.  I've read a considerable number already (like all the books by Robin Reardon).  The boys don't have to be gay - I just want interesting books.  Fantasy is fine (e.g. The False Prince, Percy Jackson series), Ranger's Apprentice and so on).  Please give me some suggestions.

Sooooooooooo many good books you should read

ALL of Andrew Smiths books (most have gay primary or secondary characters)-

"Grasshopper Jungle" - Austin loves his Girlfriend and he thinks he might be in love with his best friend too oh and they accidentally release a plague that turns humans into 7ft Preying Mantis who's only goals are to eat and fuck. It's funny, it's sexy and it's quietly terrifying.
"The Alex Crow" - 14 yo Syrian Refugee boy moves in with an American family who's father specializes in bringing dead animals back to life including a suicidal crow called Alex. Meanwhile a man with a melting face is driving a nuclear bomb across the states and we also follow the story of an 18th Century ship called The Alex Crow searching for the North West passage. Outrageous and laugh out loud funny it's also a heartbreaker in places.
"Winger" and "Stand-Off" - follow Ryan Dean West in a private boarding school and the troubles and tribulations of being a teenage boy who only really wants to do the right thing. Soooooooo funny and just brilliant.
"The Marbury Lens" and "The Passenger" - Jack narrowly escapes a seriously traumatic experience and finds himself transported into a terrifying fantasy world unlike any other i've ever read. Question is "Is the fantasy real or just Jack losing his mind" A truly outstanding pair of novels.

If you wanna go gay then a few of my favourites are: "Call me by Your name" by Andre Acimen (Tender, sexy and beautiful story about first love) "Boys and the Bees" by Joe Babcock (Very funny and very true), "Boy Meets Boy" & "Two Boys Kissing" by David Levithan (Both just wonderful life affirming books), "Clay's Way" By Blair Mastbaum (Sexy and funny) "Sixteen" by P.P Hartnett (Wistful and a little tense), "Bilal's Bread" by Sulayman X (Just Wow!)"Simon Vs. The Homosapiens Agenda" by Becky Albertalli (a brilliant lovely romantic comedy), "Closer" by Dennis Cooper (Dangerous, sexy and violent - not a comfortable read but outstanding).

loads more i could recommend but hopefully that should get you started.
