To Alanwilly1's Friends I'm OK, but I had a little accident

I received a pm from Alan yesterday. And have confirmed with him that he would like to share this update. A friend from Home Depot and Cecelia are seeing that his being taken care of. He as someone staying with him at the moment until things are in a better place. Please keep Alan in your thoughts as he moves through this. I have excised some parts that are not important:

"I had a little accident this morning and broke my ankle. I was at work and we were unloading a palet of 2x4s and when we cut the straps that holds them together they all fell on me. It was at 6am so the store was not open yet but I was lucky I was not crushed. A coworker was like Superman throwing wood everywhere screaming for help.

Then the Ambulance arrived and they took me to the hospital I have a broken ankle which will be put in a cast in a couple of days after the swelling goes down.Right now its in some kind of inflato boot. A couple of scrapes and scratches but a lot of exposure and worry."

Good Afternoon....Just a short update. I actually heard from Alan himself via email. Which I think is a good sign that he is up and even sounding cogent and calm in the email. He is feeling much better. And is thankful for all the caring and support from all of you. Still has a bit of a headache, but it is much improved.

On a personal note, I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. As you all know when his account disappeared I was upset about losing a friend that I felt so close to. And as I noted before, someone who shared a lot of his life with me and for whom I felt very protective and in fact Fatherly about. So, in that Fatherly mode, I just wanted to thank all of you for being my friend...and more importantly for being his. Thomas

Good Morning. First a big thank you to Damien and mrpickles. And mrpickles is correct, Alan is OK on the pay front. He is doing better. He got showered and actually requested a dinner of pancakes and sausage. And then went promptly back to sleep. His friend from Home Depot is staying for a few days after the cast has been put on to make sure he can navigate with the crutches OK. He is expected to get his cast on Monday. And his friend reports that Alan may be feeling well enough to get online himself today of tomorrow. So it is good news. Thank you all for you comments. I copied and pasted them into an email so that his friend could share your concern and caring with him.

Kiwi that is wonderful of you, Bless you. However Home Depot is a multi million dollar corp. They have hundreds of stores all over the country. They are very reputable and I am sure that they will take care of Alan. I have also told Thomas to let me know if Alan needs anything at all. I am not too far from Chicago and can afford to send $ if needed. God bless you for the offer.

Evening everyone...Alan is doing OK. Not great, as you would expect his report of his condition was lacking in a few details. He does have a mild concussion. His HIV meds have caused a blood pressure spike and some other issues. He refused to be admitted to the hospital (when he read this I will be in deep trouble), but he had been discharged to the care of a friend that is a certified medic who served in Afghanistan. He is in good hands, someone that cares for him and will make sure that he does as he is told. Frankly, I am feeling very parental about this. So forgive me for that. But he has become very important to me and I will make sure come heaven or hell that everyone works out. Thanks for all your good wishes

Damien. Where he works will be taking care of him financially during the recovery period. It is a work related injury and those are covered here.

All my wishes to Alan in his recovery.I know how accidents can happen in a warehouse
situation.I had a delivery once of solid steel bars and as i lowered it to the ground,
it sliped and fell on my fingernail.....Ripping my fingernail out.Very painful.
