<p>The age of consent here in UK is 16 - do you guys think that is about right, or do you think it should be lower or higher? I think it is 14 in some countries, as long as the partner is under 18. Maybe that could work?</p>

All this is very good discussion and that is the whole point. Kids today are sometimes less naive than their "elders" and can be quite manipulative. @gm. U were very wise to just brush off the 13 yr old. Odds are he was just testing U. The point has been made that a 15 yr old having sex w/ a 13 yr old is one thing. Quite another if it's say 25-30 w/ 13. It's all relative. No hard and fast rules. No I would not now have sex w/ a 12 yr old. But when I was 10 I did have sex w/ my 12 yr old bro. We "exploited" each other! Sweet. ;--)))

@thecheshirecat i think younger has been exploiting adults for a very long time. more so know then before being that we have this wonderful world of the internet. however someone asked if u would have sex with a 12 year old. i think that this is a big difference between someone that is 12 and someone that is 14,15,16 do i think that 12 year knows what he wants. if he is gay and knows it yes. do i think u should have sex with him. a adult no. and i think i will leave it at that.

@CheshireCat- you make a good point about younger trying to exploit older to get what they want. Last weekend I was partying at my friends' house, the adults were drinking in the kitchen, the kids were playing in their bedroom. After I got rather "tipsy" I was on my way to use the bathroom. Their 13yo son stopped me in the hallway and asked me to get him cigarettes. He knows that I'm gay, as he spoke he flashed his cutest smile. He even asked me if I thought he was cute. I ignored that question and denied the request for smokes. He is a cute kid, luckily I wasn't as drunk as he thought I was. He thinks I don't remember that talk, but I will be very careful around him.

I live in New Zealand where age of consent is 16. I have a 14 1/2 year old boy living with me who fucks(HIS GIRLFRIEND!!!!)like a rabbit and he always uses a condom. He is probably more mature than most ADULTS I know. I think the situation about age of consent is more about social acceptances/norms, a lot to do with religious hangovers and how mentally developed the society of some nations are. (...and NO!!! I DON'T HAVE SEX WITH HIM!!! - he trusts me too much for that, and I don't want to go and fuck that up!!!)

@hickory. Very good point. Teenagers use (exploit) older guys to get what they want as well as the other way around. But that is acceptable (wink-wink), because only older guys can be pervs, not a young, innocent 16 yr old. Give me a break! Double standard (hypocrisy) here. Teens of today are not babes in the woods or innocent helpless children. They are a lot more sophisticated than they are given credit for. I really admire someone who has the guts to tell it like it is, particularly about themselves. Everyone is so worried about being "PC" nowadays, which I think is a total CROCK! Does anyone honestly believe that all members of this site are at least 18 yrs old?! Yeah, right. I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale cheap. LOL ;--))) Meow.

ok time for me to throw my 2 cents in and not that it matters at all however when i was 14 i had sex with a guy that was well way older then myself i think he was in his 30's or older don't really remember his age do i think it was wrong no. i knew what the heck i was doing. i was a horny kid that wanted his dick sucked. if it would have been someone my own age it would have be ok right so why wouldn't it be ok for me to have sex with someone older. i was getting what i wanted and he was getting what he wanted. yes it was against the law however again i had no problem with his lips around my cock that is for sure.

The point is, *all* age of consent laws are purely arbitrary. They are based on generalizations which may or may not be rooted in any sort of scientific fact. Are the majority of 13-year olds capable of making an informed decision about sex? Almost certainly not. How about 14 year olds? A little less certainty, but, enough to say the *majority* should be protected. The very fact that age of consent laws vary so wildly shows their arbitrary nature; one cannot say that a 15 year old living a mile away on one side of a State border is more mature than a 15 year old living a mile the other side of that State border. I do not argue for these laws to be revoked...just that there are no hard and fast "facts" to back these laws, particularly as that age moves higher.

Not only 50 yr olds want 13 yr olds. What about a 15 yr old having a 13 yr old? Is the 15 yr old a "dirty young boy"? Nothing about sex is cut and dried or black & white. Like people, it is all shades of gray. For that matter, in today's digital age, with hard core porn available on the web to the very young, you have under 10 yr olds regularly having bb sex. That's not fantasy; that's today's reality. Not so easy to draw the line between acceptable and unacceptable anymore, is it?

I think 13 is waaaay too young, man. Too young to make that decision. I'm sure a lot that age are experimenting amongst themselves, that's part of growing up. But when you bring down the aoc to 13, you are consenting to the possibility of a 50 yr old picking up a 13 yr old. Seriously? And before some say it's "okay if he says it's ok", imagine if that 13 yr old is your son, and gets picked up by a 50 yr old. By bringing the consent down, there's nothing one can do about a life experienced 50 yr old from manipulating a naïve 13 yr old in order to satisfy his selfish sexual desires. How would you feel if it was your kid? Who is going to say ok to that? Anyone comes near mine, I'll be waiting to end his life. It's one thing to answer this question from the point of view of someone wringing their hands waiting to legally pounce on a young person, than to see it from the pov of the young person who is not old enough to make that decision. To say that some 13 yr old is more mature than some adults, as far as I'm concerned is only justifying what is wrong.
