Subtitled Video Upload

rps1106 Blog Last Activity 8 years ago 346 views 7 comments

Hi Guys, need a bit of advice from those who upload videos. I uploaded one yesterday called Faut Pas Penser. It was in French, but meant to have English subtitles. For some reason the subtitles didn't load. How do you upload a video and ensure the subtitles upload too? Unfortunately, you can't see the result of your upload until you post it and if I delete it, I won't be able to repost it as it will be a duplicate. Any ideas guys? Thanks

The free version of Any Video Converter will hard code subs, so there's no need to purchase anything Rob. When you load a vid file in the converter you will see an option to also load a srt file.

Just to add that I was using 4K converter with the option of embedding subtitles if possible selected. It did have an .srt file and the subs show up when playing the video, but clearly it didn't embed them as it should have done. I'll use a different converter as Dennis suggested. Thanks guys. I'll let you know how it goes!

Faut Pas Penser with English subtitles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66Mk7u4dQ9Q

If you want to upload a videos With subtitles you need to be certain that the subtitles are burnt in to the videos, Hard coded.
If you have a video that's in *.Avi format, That shout be Divx ore Xvid Codedc it is possible that you got the subtitles in a separate file, this has the name of the Video but the extension will be *.Srt

Thanks Dennis for the explanation and advice. I will give it a go and see what happens. Thanks also Nick for your offer to remove it. I know your guys are busy with more important stuff. If you can leave it for now and I'll try Dennis' suggestion. If it works, I'll get back to you to remove it. Thanks guys.

If the subtitles are hard coded to a vid they will show when you upload it because they are a permanent part of the vid. Some vid players, like the one they use at Youtube, have closed caption subtitle choices on some videos, but not all. Those are generated by the player itself and are not a permanent part of the vid. Apparently, the vid you uploaded did not have hard coded subtitles. It takes a bit of effort to hard code subs to a video. First, you need a video converter program that has the capability to do so, like Any Video Converter ( anyvideoconverter.com ) Then you have to go to a subtitle website provider like http://www.moviesubtitles.net/ (there are many more sites) If you can find the subtitles for the video/movie you want them for and find the subs in the language you want them in, downl;oad the subtitle file to your computer and use the video converter to permanently hard code the subs. It's a lot of work but sometimes it is worth it.....and sometimes it's not. Hope this helps.
