Prep - Who uses it?
I'm curious... should I look into this? Does anyone here use it? I've been talking to a few boys who use it and am wondering if I should too... all advice is welcome! Thanks!! :)

The rate of contraction of HIV among gays who use PrEP is next to nothing. (There have been 2 cases, but that means it is 99.9999% effective which is the same if not better than using condoms). The important thing to keep in mind is that PrEP does NOT protect against other STDs. Here is a list of the more common ones: Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Genital Herpes, Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Syphilis. When you have unprotected sex with other guys who have unprotected sex with a variety of sexual partners, your risk of contracting one or more types of STDs is greatly increased, even if you're on PrEP. If you have a partner with whom you are monogamous, and you both have been thoroughly test a few times, and you both trust the other guy will never ever cheat, having sex without use of a condom is basically safe (there is no test for HPV until the warts show up). There are a number of guys on PrEP who use condoms still because of the risk of other STDs.Â
