The Lesson of the Foo Bird

Blog Last Activity 6 years ago 492 views 5 comments

There was once a baby bird who fell from it's nest in Africa and was immediately pursued by a hungry leopard, intent on making the little bird it's next meal. The little chick ran as fast as it could but was no match for the large cat who gained up it every second. Suddenly, from nowhere a giant Foo bird flew over and emptied the contents of it's bowels hitting and covering the little chick with it's smelly offal. The leopard immediately came to a halt, stopped by the horrible smell, but could hear the little bird complaining inside. Moments later the little bird had almost freed itself from the pile of crap but was still loudly complaining of it's plight. At this point the leopard reached out and flicked the little bird out of the crap and into a puddle of water. Soon, the little chick had cleaned itself off and was chirping along happily, when the leopard came over and ate it in one bite.

And this is where we get to the moral of the story. Every one who shits on you is not your enemy and everyone who gets you out of the shit is not your friend. When someone helps you and saves your ass, just be thankful and shut-up. Just because your enemy does something unexpected and positive remember, he is still your enemy. And mostly...If the Foo shits, wear it. .

Jericho, that was one of the most precious pieces I have read in a long time. The last sentence didn't hit me right away, but once it did, I got a good laugh out of it. I suppose you know that bears are close to a Russian's heart. Wonderful fable. You may find this strange, but I constantly fight with myself on the moral issue of revenge. Mostly, if you are wronged by someone you should let it go. What if the same person wrongs you again. When is it self-protection and when is it revenge? I fight like a rat when attacked, but most of my life is spent in happiness and kindness. But what happens when the environment changes. I have checked all the religions and philosophies and they all allow for some sort of self preservation. My Tae Kwon Do instructor told me to let them hit me once, but if they hit me twice, break their arm. I thought that was extreme, but took the point. I guess I will be discussing this with myself for a very long time. Thanks for the stories. Absolutely wonderful. Please enjoy the day. You have influenced another person. Thank You. Leo

MORALEJA DE LA VENGANZA ...

A guy went hunting in the forest and when he ran into a small brown bear he shot him. Instantly he felt a tap on his shoulder.

Turning around he saw with great surprise the silhouette of a huge black Bear who said in a warm voice: ... look what you did, it was very bad and given the circumstances you have two options: either hit you to death, or we arrange with sex.

The guy inside that panorama understood his possibilities and very reluctantly - and without hesitation - decided to duck. And although he felt hurt for a couple of weeks, he recovered. But he swore revenge.

So he started another trip to the forest in order to locate that huge black bear. When he finally found it, he fixed it and shot it. And so it was that he immediately felt that tap on his shoulder.

This time a terrible Grizzly Bear was there on his right, it was much more terrible than that huge Black Bear, very planted and bowing with a hard frown told him: "Friend, this is going to hurt you more than me" ... and you have no more than two options: I beat you to death, or you prefer we fix it with sex.

The guy again thought: ... what is better, lose dignity or life? And although he survived the fact, many months passed before he managed to recover.

Mad was, because he went back to the forest, with one goal: revenge!

... And he managed to find just the clue of the terrible Grizzly Bear. And after focusing it carefully in his sights with total coldness and without contemplation he shot ...

So, he felt that tap on his shoulder again - and he turned - and in fact he saw a horrific, gigantic and exorbitant Polar Bear who, looking at him very fixedly, said: ... ADMIT IT ASSHOLE... YOU NO LONGER COME HERE TO HUNT BEARS! ..

"At this time, the next thought occurred to Prince Dighavu: 'Behold, I have not seen my parents for a long time, what if I go to see them?' Then, monks, he entered Benares and, having entered, he saw his parents bound with solid ropes, his arms held tightly behind him, shaved, marching in the streets of the city, at the crossings of the streets, accompanied by great tumult of the drums. So, having seen them, he approached his parents. And when King Dighiti saw Prince Dighavu coming from afar, and having seen him, he spoke to him in the following manner: 'My dear Dighavu, do not be far-sighted, do not be short-sighted; Revenge does not dissipate with revenge, but vengeance dissipates with non-vengeance.
