I don’t care one one or the other. Someone friend requests me, I normally just accept it, and never bother to look at their profile or remember I friended them in the first place. Lol. It’s just not important enough for me to care if they have a pic or not. 

In my case, the avatar sort of defines the person and how I remember him.  If I have as friends people without avatars, I don't remember them as well - plus it makes my Friends page look lousy. 

I've been getting so many 'Friend' requests lately, I've gone the additional step of asking that they post a pic of a cute (legal) boy on my Wall before I'll accept them.  So far, none of those who have sent me 'Friend' requests have done that and it just makes it easier to reject them.  If they can't do something as simple as to post a pic on my Wall, I don't really want them as 'Friend's.

It's the ones who use little boys that I will not accept. So I would say the ones without a picture is better. But I still check out the wall.

i've heard a blank avatar was formerly thought to be a spammer trademark - these days it's a pity not having a pic to kidnap for nefarious purposes ....
