Political Bias

I just heard on CNN that the whistle blower in the Trump/Ukraine Phone Call Scandal shouldn't be trusted because he has a political bias.  Fuck Me!  Really?  Introduce me to someone that Truly has no political bias.  Even Independents have some sort of political bias.

What is my bias?  I call myself a Democratic Republican.  I lean more democratic for sure, but I still believe in a lot of the Republican things as well.  I believe in the 2nd Amendment, less the high power, large mag, automatic assault weapons.  I'm for lower taxes.  I'm for a small limited government.  But I'm also for marriage equality, free college with a military commitment, and open borders.

But open borders I'm not talking about throwing the doors wide open.  I'm talking about realistic access to immigration.  Instead of building a wall, lets build more offices and hire more officials to take care of the requests in a timely manner, say 90 days or less.  Lets build offices where the people are coming from to give them a head start with asilum before they even leave their country.  Let's work with those countries to get them stable enough so their people want to stay.

I'm for improvements in voting like the end of the Electoral College.  I for working with the world on climate change.

And above all, I'm for trying to figure out the high cost of medical care.  This is a tricky one because of the huge Catch-22.  People want to take medication to help extend their life, which in turn is going to cost money.  How high should the cost of medication be though?  The companies that make these drugs spend millions if not billions on the development of these drugs and do deserve to make that money back plus a profit.  I think a fair value would be if the drug companies took the cost of development and divide that by 20 years, then add a 25% profit.  That way the company will make back their investment at the end of 20 years and have a 25% profit.

Lastly (For this post at least), I'm for Freedom of Religion.  But this doesn't mean that I want one religion to dominate all others.  I believe that freedom of religion means that you are free to practice any religion you want in the privacy of your own home or religious venue and it should not interfere with the public domain.  What do I mean by that?  I mean that like at work I'm all for religious accomadation as long as it doesn't interfere with the job.  If your religion interferes with the job, then you need to find a different job, not force the employer to work around you.  And because of your religion you shouldnt require public venues like pools, to hold a specific time for your group to use it.  Now if you want to rent the facility for your group that is another thing.

I'm not a particularly religious person myself.  But I have no problems with people who are, and respect those of any religion who are.  I just have a problem when religion bumps into politics and the public domain.

OK, wow, that was a lot longer than I thought it was going to be.  I have a lot more views, but I can get into them later.
