Growing Up With Internet Porn (Part 2)

So I watched the CNN show "Life, With Lisa Ling" and the episode about porn tonight.  Overall, I thought it was very good.  It gave you a look at when the interviewees started to watch porn and how it affected their lives and their view on sex.  There was also a female adult performer who was trying to get it across that mainstream porn is an "entertainment" industry, and that the performers are actors.  She said that a lot of times she is acting about the attraction to her partner, and acting orgasms because she said it is hard to do on demand.

I've had limited experience participating in studio porn and can relate to the fact that it's not as easy as it looks.  First off, there is the paperwork.  I had to go get tested to make sure that I didn't have any STD's that I could have potentially spread to others on the set.  I had to prove that I was over the age of 18, which for me at the time (this was when I was 18 and 19) was hard since I looked like I was maybe 16 or 17.  Once the paperwork was done, the company that I was doing it for said that they would call me within a week or two to set up the shoot date.  [No need to ask if you can see the videos since the company I did it for was pretty small and didn't last very long.  And after going through a few computers I've lost my copies.  Maybe someone downloaded it sometime and I'll find it here someday.]

It took about a week before I got a call asking if I was going to be available to do a shoot that coming weekend.  So that Saturday afternoon I told my parents that I was going out with some friends [I was still in high school at the time with a few months to go and still living with my parents] and drove to the address that the company had given me where they were going to do the shoot.  When I got there, there were a few more people than I thought were going to be there.  There was me, the other boy they picked as my partner, two people doing the cameras, and one doing the lighting.  It was a bit intimidating at first.

Now I'm going to backtrack here a bit and say that having sex in a group setting was not going to be anything new.  I was involved with my first group sex experience when I was 14, and when I was hustling there were plenty of times when I was paid to have sex while there were one or more observers.  But the other participants in the porn shoot made it feel different because though they were there to record the sex, they were more focused on their job than they were on the sex.

I was first introduced to who my partner was going to be while we were still dressed.  I told him that I had just turned 18 two months before and was going to be a senior in high school in the fall.  I have a July birthday, so I was older by a few months than most of the people that I went to school with.  My partner was 19 and was going to be a freshman in college.  They had us do one of those stupid little acting scenes before we ended up getting down to business.

Sex had always come easy for me pretty much no matter who my partner was.  I was young, I was horny, I wanted to suck your cock, and then get fucked.  Once we started it was hot and heavy until we had each cum once or twice, either on each other, or in each other.  But it wasn't like that on the shoot.  We would get going on something and then have to stop so the cameras and lighting could more to get a better shot.  Sometimes they wanted a close up of the cock sucking, then they would go for the wide shot.  When we got to fucking they wanted a down angle to show his cock running in and out of my ass.  Then they wanted a shot from below so they could see myself jacking my cock while I was getting fucked.  It was so much stop and go that it was hard to stay hard.  Eventually they got our cum shots as I was on my back and he pulled out to cum all over my chest as I did the same.  And then it was over.  And it was over like a Craigslist or Grindr hookup.

After the shoot we each got dressed, got paid $1,000, and then went on our merry way for the rest of the day.  I ended up doing one more shoot with them a few months later with another guy who was 25 for another $1,000.  Then the summer I was 19 I did two more shoots with a different company that was more older/twink type of sex.  It wasn't so bad either because I enjoy sex with older men as well and I got paid $2,500 for each shoot.  So in a matter of a year, I made $7,000 for four days of sex.  Like I said, it wasn't bad, but I could make the same amount, if not more, escorting for sex, and I didn't have to put up with all the BS of a porn shoot.

In the end, I learned that porn IS acting!

I think that the show really needed another hour to go into the actors side of the industry more.  Why do people get into porn?  I know the #1 reason is the allure of the money.  Depending on the company you get with, how popular you become, you can make a good amount of money.  Even if you only do it once, for a young guy like I was, you can make enough to pay rent for a month, or new clothing, or fill your groceries.  And it's not just twinks doing porn for sure.  Men, women, young, old, vanilla, bdsm, it's all out there, and the reasons to get into porn I bet are in the thousands.  Nowadays, you don't even have to be a professional to be in porn.  Just set up your camera, hit the record button, upload your video, and you too are now in porn.

The worst part about being able to make and distribute your own porn so easily goes back to the younger crowd.  Guys and girls not yet 18 are seeing recordings online of other people making their own porn and think it's OK to do.  How many times even here have you come across a video where the participants look a little younger than they should be?  I'm guilty of it too.  I never uploaded my younger stuff to sites like this, but back in the days of Yahoo and MSN Chat I made little videos of myself jacking off, or putting things in my butt, and then sharing them to guys I was chatting with.  A buddy and I when we were in 9th and 10th grades were even known to do a live show ever now and then.  We knew we shouldn't be doing it, but we didn't know how wrong it was.

It's not only L.A., L.V., and NYC where porn is being made these days.  It's every backyard in America.  Even people under the age of 18 are now making and distributing porn because society has given them the tools to do it, but haven't taught them about sex, and the dangers of porn production.

It's good that CNN took this first step at showing what internet porn is doing.  But without continued follow up, like everything else, there will be a big outcry about it, and then it will slip back into the shadows.  Porn is here to stay, that's for sure.  We just really need to up the game of sex education so that porn and sex do not destroy the next generations ability to have genuine, loving, sexual relationships.

That's it for now.
