Coming out is liberating.. If he's your friend then he will accept you for who you are, besides he might be carrying the same secret. And the feeling that you no longer have to keep it a secret for him anymore is very liberating. And if he's not OK with it.. Well then he wasn't a friend in the first place and just someone who was using you for his own benefit.
Just do it, freindships survive.
In my mind I would also ask what he thinks about gay people and what have you...I would ask if he likes QUEEN. Â Â :) Â Â
be very honest with yourself about what kind of relationship you really want with this friend before you come out to him.
I forget how hard it was for me... but I would say, if he's really your friend, he knows already. And the shock of hearing you say it ( I remember just mentioning it in a totally outside conversation to one...) won't last long, hopefully.
I learned how to be courageous by being gay. No easy way. We all need friends, gay AND straight. Man AND woman. Listen to yourself and go, just go... and talk to us or others... Wish you well.
