How Could This Site Be Improved

Blog Last Activity 3 years ago 488 views 9 comments

What are your thoughts on how to improve this site? It would be nice to have a chat feature so that you could talk to your friends while they are online. It would also be nice to know which of your friends are currently online by indicating that under your friends' list. Also there are too many duplicate videos which probably use lots of server space and slow the site down. They shouldn't allow someone to put their name in front of the video name. Also, eliminating the list of users by most uploads and videos would curtail the practice of downloading a video to your own account and then uploading it again creating duplicates.

Duplicate video uploads happen because I have no idea if that video is on site already. I get all my videos from other sites. Then I upload them here. Eliminating that list that you mention is just stupid. That's coming from someone who doesn't upload videos anyways, so why would that list matter to you? Also, I don't understand what you mean by "They shouldn't allow someone to put their name in front of the video name". Your blog is nothing but gibberish to me.

You make a really good point. There are lots of duplicate videos for sure.  Although I wonder if this duplication serves a purpose.  Some of this reposting keeps videos 'alive' for others to find and it keeps that content findable by people who would like a certain kind of video but one that isn't popular enough to make the all time great video rank list.

There are two issues for finding content. One is having the content, the second is being able to find it.  Although wasteful, the reposting serves the latter function.
