Buffalo shooting: Black Americans describe grief and fear

The rainy, grey weather in Buffalo certainly suited the mood on the ground on Monday.

The black community is grieving and they are scared after 10 people - now named by officials - were gunned down in a racially-motivated attack in a New York supermarket.

The victims, aged between 32 and 86, were shot dead by the suspected gunman on Saturday afternoon.

Three others were injured.

Buffalo gunman planned second attack, police say

Among those killed were a former police officer, a woman who helped feed the poor and a man who drove shoppers to and from the market.

Eleven out of the 13 people killed or injured at Tops Friendly Market were black, and Buffalo's police chief has described the attack as a "racist hate crime". The neighbourhood where the attack was carried out is predominantly black.

Lakisha Chambers lives a few blocks away from the Tops grocery store - one of the few markets available to residents in the area - and walked over to the scene for the first time since the shooting on Monday.

Let's not say a prayer. Let's demand lawmakers do something and put in place genuine genuine reform or even better, dump the God awful second amendment all together.

BBB I found this document which proves that firearms are more of a problem than other types of weapons.GUN VIOLENCE BY THE NUMBERS

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) provides annual statistics on fatal firearm injuries. Using data from the most recent years available (2015-2019), Brady establishes five-year averages of firearm fatalities. While Brady historically used CDC data to establish averages for gun-related injuries as well, recent findings show there are more accurate sources. Due to funding restrictions and other constraints, the sample size utilized by the CDC is so small that its estimate of firearm injuries ranges significantly. Data provided by Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project’s HCUPnet, and collected from emergency departments and databases, gives a more comprehensive picture of gun injuries in the U.S. The numbers below represent a three-year average of the most recent HCUPnet data available (2013, ‘14, and ‘16). It is important to note that data reported for children and teens contains data only for 1-17-year-olds.

I live next to a Baptist church in Aberdeen. Baptist churches are found in almost every country in the world. As part of the world-wide Christian church, Baptists form one of the largest families of faith, alongside other trinitarian Christian traditions such as Anglicans, Methodists, Reformed, etc.

For Baptists the concept of a family is important. The church is not so much a particular place or building, but rather a family of believers, committed to Christ, to one another and to the service of God in the world.

In this Baptist family everybody is equal, for everybody has a part to play in the service of God. There is no hierarchy of bishops or priests exercising authority over their members. Equality of status, however, does not mean that all have the same role.

Each local Baptist church appoints its own leaders - or ministers - to have particular responsibility for preaching, teaching and pastoral care. Working alongside these ministers are also deacons, who together with the minister(s) form the leadership team of the local Baptist church.

Baptists are grass-roots people, with a particular emphasis on the local church. These local churches are self-governing and self-supporting, ranging in size from twenty or so members to many hundreds. Although each Baptist church is an independent entity, Baptists nonetheless have always believed in associating with one another - and so the churches come together in regional, national and international spheres to promote and support the fellowship of Baptists everywhere.

The vast majority of the congregation in my church are black and I assume the Afro-Americans would get great comfort knowing that others were offering up prayers. So while we may all think God is a joke there are some who get strength from believing in him.

God Bless Y'all.

ok sorry  Bbb if i spoke too harshly wasn`t meant to come across as personal - too many times some people offer up prayers to deny responsibility for the action of  their `neighbours or members of their community or the society in which they are a part of  - like it or not no man is an island we are social creatures where there are more benifits to cooperation than isolation - so we  ie you and me are responsible for our actions and for our neighbours - thats why religeous / political / ethnic groups form communities and have laws and rules - so my point is actions speak louder tha than prayers or words - if there is a problem then solve it - a prayer is a bit of a hope really - so fix the mentally unwell with a healthcare system damp down the spread of gossip and propaganda by using  facts restrict the selling of military  grade weapons and stop the manufactures of those weapons from bribing politicians to stop passing laws to restrict the use of their products - to recap some points when a white boy goes on a killing spree hes mentally unwell when a dark skinned  foreigner does the same they are a terrorist - in both cases they are inspired by  propaganda hate filled preachers politicians and  to use  bombs and guns to kill innocents to make their point  - those weapons are made readily availible to almost anyone in the us because politicians who recieve donations from arms manufacturers offer up prayers after every shooting  instead of passing legislation to restrict the use of weapons that are designed to kill as many people as possible in the shortest ammount of time on the battle field not to kill as many buffalo  brown bears or roaming packs of wolves that regularly invade your typical suburban  good ol american suburb  school church or supermarket -

so many young americans are mentally unwell - perhaps you should fix that  rather than offering fake prayers makes you feel good  ? so you let them express them selves with a gun (not a chat or a talk ) oh yes  school kids jews blacks gays young and old are all fare game to you because you have a "prayer" - that makes you sleep at night while fox news spreads its propaganda on the tv in your home

The photo below is of an 86 year old Grandmother to 8 grandchildren. What in the fuck did she ever do to the monster who took her life and took her away from her family? In his sick mind her only offence was having a higher melanin content to her skin then that sick fuck does. I'm not ending prayers because I can't to that but my heart aches for the families of all those poor people whose lives he took. May he go the way of Jeoffrey Dahmer!!!
