Word's out Queen Elizabeth's Gavin Green 1984 Daimler Double Six is up for auction Mop!!?? Certainly would add a bit of class to the back yard sitting in the shade of the Stalwart Olive!! Also might be a good way to avoid the sinister cows on the way to work down the lane???

News gurus say there are 5 "military horses" cavorting around London after being spooked!!  Maybe they're looking for peas in the valley--leave a light on tonite!!?? Oops, don't let 'em munch the garden or the sacred Stalwart Olive branch(es)!!

hi howard - got my peas and beans under guard - bit of a cold spell so no aphids yet - as for horses nothing - though on a serious note those news images looked horrendous - all the injured have been icked up and the runaway horses and being cared for though the two horses that ran headlong into the cars and  bus are not in that good for a state but still being cared for

Mop takes his favorite Fooks Farm pet goat surfing and half the valley tags along to join in the fun.

Mop, someone finally got a pic of the flying goat you said has been buzzing your house. Sorry for doubting your word.

OK, I've heard the "cow/moon" thing, but never the "goat/valley" one--this must be previously undiscovered science???????

Mop, that tree in bloom is beautiful, is it some kind of fruit tree. Have you picked any peas yet? I started harvesting mine the very end of March and they are so sweet that many of them never make it into the kitchen. I just stand there and eat them.

anuu the tree is a japanese flowering cherry - as for peas its too early for a harvest sown some planted some will get a crop in june dont find them easy to grow either they rot if its too damp or the mice eat them sowed 40 but only got 8 so far -peassad

I know too well what you mean. Start them all indoors by a sunny window and wait till they have about 3 or 4 sets of leaves before you put them in the ground. 1, just 1 drop of rain after you put the dried pea in the soil and they rot.

are you watching the eclipse Howard ?

would like to think so in those eclipse glasses staring up at the heavens wondering if the worlds going to end - i saw a partial eclipse in uk back in te 90`s - the birds stopped singing as it went darkish - freaked me out and it went suddenly cold for 5 mins  - peas bro

It's supposed to be best viewing here in about 1 1/2 hours. I found eclipse glasses I had for 2017 event-- found by accident, not because of great planning! Intend to watch, but that's right in the middle of afternoon nap time and getting dark on top of that might trigger my instinctive nap reflex?! And thanks for the colder tip, I'll make sure the official eclipse nap time blankey is handy to the recliner!!  Peas and tranquillity!

who wants mild pickled quails eggs - you want full on pickled chicken eggs in vinegar - standard in any fish and chip shop and back street pubs -

A typical British recipe for pickled eggs includes eggs, vinegar, salt, and sugar. The eggs are first boiled, peeled, then boiled with the other ingredients. They last for three to four months (for best quality) and are traditionally found in British public houses and fish and chip shops.

- i have never had one  - mop

They are supposed to be snacks with a pint of beer and to accompany fish and chips with mushy peas usually after a long night out on the town on the way home

Save all the brine from your pickled beets. Fill a quart Mason jar with peeled hard boiled eggs and pour the beet brine over the eggs, topping off any head space with brine from pickles of your choice. Wait 3 days and enjoy. Wait 10 days and even the yolks are deep beet red. I easily go through a half gallon jar of bread and butter pickles in under a month, and save the brine, there's not much better than bread and butter pickled hard boiled eggs.

what is this life if full of care

we have no time to stand and stare ?

well this was written by a poet who once lived in the valley  about 100 years ago - its well known but don`t think its the greatest of poems

there is an orchard

Here, that would be called a remodel. Leave one wall standing and build all the rest new. That way you save thousands of $$$ in county fees for building a new home from scratch. That could have great possibilities, especially since it comes with an established orchard. What are those, bananas?
