Given the hatred that exists towards adults who have relationships with children and adolescents, I amazed that movies like this even exist, or could have been made in the 1980s...I guess attitudes in some European countries were different back then. What's amazing about it is not the subject matter. What's amazing is that the adult is not depicted as a monster, and the child is shown to have agency and is not portrayed as a victim--the relationship is depicted with warmth and sensivity, in a way that could make you relate to the characters, understand them, and feel for them. It's also amazing is that such movies are lauded by audiences and critics...why are we so open minded towards fictional characters and so unforgiving of real people?
